Viewing ISO Express Best

You will get the best results by viewing ISO Express in 1280x1024 resolution or higher. The best browser options are Firefox 3.1 or higher or Internet Explorer 9 or higher. The Google Frame plug-in is required if using Internet Explorer 8 or older. We recommend that you follow your organization's procedures to obtain the plug-in. We do not support browsers or versions of browsers not mentioned here.

Default Page

By default, ISO Express displays the System Monitor on the right-hand side of the display, which includes Power System Conditions, LMP Map, and Actual vs. Forecasted System Load excluding pumped storage for the current day. The views that appear by default on the left-hand side of the display are the larger view of the LMP Map, a graph for five-minute real-time LMPs for the Hub, a list of five-minute LMPs for all zones and interfaces, the load forecast for today and tomorrow, and a list of hyperlinks to frequently viewed content.

Content Definitions

  • Load Forecast Graph: graph of forecasted load vs actual load for the day
  • System Load: graph of total load forecasted for today and tomorrow
  • Five-Minute LMP List: list view of locational marginal prices (LMPs) for the hub, zones and interfaces, including energy, congestion, and loss components for each, as well as total system load; updated every five minutes
  • Periodic LMP Graph: graph of weekly or monthly LMPs aggregated for the hub, zones, and interfaces, including day-ahead and real-time energy, congestion, and loss components
  • Reserve Prices Graph: graph of reserve zones prices, including 10-minute spinning reserve (TMSR), 10-minute nonsynchronized (nonspinning) reserves (TMNSR), and 30-minute operating reserves (TMOR); five-minute and hourly are available
  • Five-Minute LMP Graph: graph of LMPs for the hub, zones, and interfaces, including energy, congestion, and loss components for each; updated every five minutes
  • External Interfaces Graph: graph includes actual flow, import limit, export limit, current schedule, purchase, and sale for each interface
  • Hourly LMP Graph: graph of LMPs for the hub, zones, and interfaces ,including energy, congestion and loss components for each; updated at the end of every  hour
  • Quick Links: access frequently viewed content with one click, includes Morning Report, Seven-Day Forecast, Two-Day Forecast System Demand, Market Performance Reports, Short-Term Outage Report, Interconnection Request Status, Market Rule 1, FERC Filings and Orders, Press Releases, ISO Newswire
  • Power System Conditions: Real-time emergency system conditions
  • LMP Map: map displays day-head and real-time energy prices and demand for the New England system
  • LMP Price Ticker: scrolling ticker displays day-ahead and real-time energy prices for the New England system, including hub, zones, and interfaces

Modifying a Page

  • Add Content:
    Use the "Add Content" button located in the gray bar at the top of the page to add new views to a page.

    Click on the "X" in the upper right corner of any view to remove it from the page.

  • Move Content: Hover your mouse over the header of any view. Once the cursor changes to a cross, move the view to the preferred location.

  • Maximize Content: Click on the "window" icon to make the chosen view the full size of the page.

  • Pop Out Content: Click on the diagonal arrow to open the chosen view in a new browser tab or window.

  • Open/Close System Monitor: Click on the double arrows next to "System Monitor" to open and close the panel.

Modify Content Views

Each view allows specific configuration:

  • Name: Click on the name of the view to change it. Hit "enter/return" once the name has been changed.
  • Dates: Click on the date to change the start/end parameters, or to select specific date ranges.
  • Settings: Click on the "wheel cog" icon to see the various options/settings for each view. Click OK once the options have been chosen to save the settings.
  • Export: Click on the "rounded arrow" icon and chose the method you'd like to use to export the data in the chosen view.
  • Change View: Clicking on the "graph" or "grid" icons will toggle the view between the graph and a table.

Add Page

Click on the "Add Page" button located in the gray bar at the top of the page. You can give the page a unique name using the "Page Name" field. You can also choose how many columns the page will have and whether or not to display the System Monitor.

Remove Page

To remove one of your custom pages entirely, click on the "X" icon that illuminates to the right of the page's tab when you position your cursor over it.

Web Services

ISO New England provides access to some data through data feeds (also called web services). To access these feeds, you must register for ISO Express and then request the data feeds by updating your ISO Express profile. For a list of what data feeds the ISO provides and for more detailed information on how to access the feeds, view the API documentation.

Enroll Customer Type

If you would like to use the portal or subscribe to web services (data feeds), y our company must be listed in ISO New England's Customer and Asset Management System (CAMS). To register your company, you must fill out the Web Services Customer Registration form [XLSX] and either email it to Customer Support or fax it to (413) 535-4156. Please be sure to indicate with the submission of the form your interest in using ISO Express and/or the web services. Customer Support will complete your registration and you will receive an email with authorization. If you need further assistance please call Customer Support at (413) 540-4220.

Change Password

Click on the triangle next to your name in the upper right corner of the site to change your password.

Update Profile

Click on the triangle next to your name in the upper right corner of the site to change your profile information. You can also sign up to receive access to data feeds if you did not opt to do so upon sign up.

If your company name changes you will need to register for a new account. If you want to close the account associated with the previous company email Customer Support or call 413.540.4220.
